CPH:LAB

CPH:LAB is CPH:DOX’s talent development programme that encourages creative risk taking, celebrates raw talent, facilitates collaboration across borders and business sectors and supports visionaries to push the existing boundaries of documentary filmmaking.

Conceived as an international incubator, the lab welcomes established as well as emerging filmmakers, storytellers and creative technologists that seek to explore the potential of new technologies and interactivity to advance new visions of what a documentary can be in a digital age. Every year the lab supports the development of up to 9 projects and 20 participants. They are guided by the Head of Studies Mark Atkin, assisted by a wide variety of acknowledged international mentors besides the CPH:DOX team.

As a response to the current global situation caused by the pandemic, the current edition of the lab has taken place online since September 2020. The projects developed under the subject of Protopia, describing a proactive bridge from our current state to an improved, rather than a perfect society, are all presented as part of the Inter:Active programme at CPH:DOX 2021.
