DARK ROOM- ENTER UNKNOWN TERRITORY

DARK ROOM- ENTER UNKNOWN TERRITORY

Laurits Flendsted, Sissel Dalsgaard Thomsen & Anne Sofie Steen Sverdrup / Mads Damsbo / Denmark

Dark Room is a sensual playground to curiously explore, leaving you with an expanded awareness of sexual diversity.

Our sexuality is a sensitive topic, subject to a great deal of ambivalence as well as moralisation and taboo. Exploring one’s sexuality can be enticing and vulnerable at the same time–and exposing it to others can be daunting.

With Dark Room we have created a virtual safe space–a “risk-free” place for exploration, where you can peek into various forms of sexual encounters without having to participate in real life. Our ambition is to show a diversity of realities and approaches to the intimate, giving viewers an opportunity to learn more about others and to step out of their comfort zone.

Biography

I believe that the way forward is visibility for the invisible. Therefore, in my work I examine a wide range of sexual themes. In Bedside's first film, “Boy oh Boy”, we explored themes such as gender expression, power play and kink, similarity and inequality in sexual attraction, “Yoni Love” was about the passive reception of pleasure, in “Ei blot til lyst” we experimented with how to build intimate, sexual spaces for men of different sexual orientations, and in our latest film, which is constantly in production, we examine consensual non-consent through advanced play with forbidden fantasies, torture, blood and humiliation.
