CPH:DOX welcomes students from film schools, art academies and universities all over the world to take part in the festival. The DOX:ACADEMY accreditation offers full access to the festival programme of films, conferences and events.
CPH:DOX welcomes students from film schools, art academies and universities all over the world to take part in the DOX:ACADEMY / DOX:ACADEMY+ experience. The platform offers tailored guidance throughout the extensive festival programme of films, conferences, intensive courses, social events, and much more, dedicated to ambitious students who wish to fully engage in the festival.
DOX:ACADEMY is an ideal place for students with practical as well as theoretical interest in documentaries from various fields and institutions all over the world to meet and form new creative and cross-disciplinary networks.
DOX:ACADEMY+ Classes
When applying for accreditation, you can decide to apply for DOX:ACADEMY+ to take part in one of our intensive one-week DOX:ACADEMY+ Classes that will take place for 5 full days in Copenhagen during the festival from March 16-20, 2026.
Alternatively, you can form your own path through the festival with a DOX:ACADEMY Accreditation that gives you the same access, but without the tailored classes. If you do not get a spot in one of the DOX:ACADEMY+ classes, you will automatically receive a basic DOX:ACADEMY accreditation for the regular price of 1250DKK (incl. tax).
- Joining DOX:ACADEMY is both easy and affordable. We welcome individual students as well as larger groups, classes or schools from all over the world.
- Accreditations are restricted to students at higher educational institutions such as universities, film schools and art academies.
- Recent graduates or students on sabbatical leave may be taken into consideration.
The DOX:ACADEMY+ Classes are a line of highly intensive courses taking place in Copenhagen for 5 full days during the festival with guest sessions, group discussions, and a tailored programme of films and festival activities, and more.
All of our DOX:ACADEMY+ classes explore the intersection between theory and practice and bring together students, teachers, experts and artists from different professional backgrounds to form new creative and cross-disciplinary networks. Each class is hosted by a professional moderator from the three different disciplines, and is composed of a curated programme, guest sessions and extended discussions arranged exclusively for the participants.
The classes will showcase a selection of films from the festival program, highlighting both experimental and investigative approaches to documentary filmmaking across various sections. Each session will focus more closely on the following themes:
- HYBRID CLASS examines the field between art, film and academic research—especially anthropology! The class will focus on the experimental form of documentary as an artistic practice, pushing the boundaries of cinematic expression. Sign up for this ambitious and creative course if you want to meet, discuss and explore the intersection between documentary and fiction, experimentation and reality, and new emerging art forms!
- F:ACT CLASS is dedicated to the field between investigative journalism, political activism and expressive documentary genres. This class is a critical forum for emerging makers, documentarists and journalists to meet, inspire and challenge each other in the collective examination of social impact through documentary media. Join the class if you want to witness and change the world through the camera lens!
- SOUND CLASS immerses you in the captivating realm of sound in film. With an attentive ear for the audio-visual landscape, this course celebrates the artistry of auditory storytelling and the boundless potential of sound in documentary filmmaking. Discover how sound artists, musicians and sound editors create auditory experiences that resonate with visuals within the cinematic space. Join us to open your ears and delve into the rich materiality of sound, transforming your understanding of how it shapes cinematic experiences!

HYBRID I: Therese Henningsen, Filmmaker and programmer
HYBRID l is moderated by London-based filmmaker and programmer Therese Henningsen. Her filmmaking often finds its shape through the encounter with the person(s) filmed and the direction this takes. Her film All These Summers (2025) premiered last year in the New Vision section at CPH DOX. She co-edited the anthology Strangers Within: Documentary as Encounter (2022) and is a member of Terrassen, a roving cinema in Copenhagen engaging with the social life of film. Read more.
HYBRID ll: Eva Marie Rødbro, Filmmaker
HYBRID ll is moderated by Eva Marie Rødbro, whose work is centered around the lives of socially disadvantaged, as she focuses on the relational commitment and challenges, sometimes working with the same people in different projects throughout the years. Rødbro has created a number of acclaimed works such as I Love You I Miss You I Hope To See You Before I Die (2016), Prinsesser fra blokken (2016 & 2024) and We Chose the Milky Way (2015). Her films have been screened at major festivals like CPH:DOX, IFFR, Hot Docs and IDFA. Read more.
HYBRID lll: Stefan Kruse, Filmmaker and visual artist
HYBRID Ill is moderated by Stefan Kruse, a research-based filmmaker and visual artist working with ethical and philosophical questions related to technical image production. Often rooted in personal anecdotes, his work investigates human perception, mass media image circulation, surveillance technologies and ties to the military industrial complex. In 2024 Kruse published his first publication A LACK OF CLARITY, with Buchhandlung Walther König. Most recently his latest short film A RECONNAISSANCE celebrated its world premiere at Visions du Réel in April 2025. Read more.
F:ACT: Nagieb Khaja, Filmmaker, journalist and writer
F:ACT is moderated by Nagieb Khaja, an award-winning journalist and filmmaker, whose films and reports have appeared on the BBC, Al Jazeera English, Vice International and the Guardian. In 2022 he won the Cavling prize for the article series Mettes uønskede børn (Mette’s unwanted children). He has covered conflicts and wars, mainly in Syria and Afghanistan for many years, but currently his focus is on Israel and Palestine. Nagieb Khaja has also been a teacher on The National Film School of Denmark’s Documentary programme. Read more.
SOUND: Peter Albrechtsen, Sound designer and music supervisor
SOUND is moderated by Peter Albrechtsen, an award-winning Danish sound designer and music supervisor working on both Danish and international feature films and documentaries. Recent documentary credits include the American festival favorite Land With No Rider, the short documentary All the Empty Rooms which just premiered on Netflix and the Ukrainian war doc Viktor which screened at last year’s CPH:DOX.
