              ELEMENTAL: A SANDBOX PRESENTATION

              CPH:DOX presents a behind-the-scenes look at ELEMENTAL, a playful series of short documentaries produced by PFilm and presented by Sandbox Films that explore our lives through the lens of the periodic table elements.

              The diverse human stories combine to create something bigger than the sum of its parts, shedding light on our connections with the elements and celebrating the art and craft of documentary filmmaking. In this panel, you’ll hear from the producers, executives, and contributing filmmakers from around the globe. They’ll share insights into their creative processes and discuss how the project’s unique constraints inspired their storytelling approaches.

              Speakers

              Heidi Fleisher

              American producer, consultant, educator and workshop leader based in Paris. Previously a buyer for France TV’s 25 SHADES OF DOCS and head of sales & acquisitions for ARTE Sales. Recent producing credits include THE CASTLE and the ongoing short doc series ELEMENTAL, with Sandbox films.

              Mike Paterson

              Mike Paterson is a documentary filmmaker and producer based in London. He worked in broadcast fiction production for the BBC and Channel 4, before establishing himself in documentaries. As a filmmaker, he has worked on numerous films and feature-length productions for the BBC and other broadcasters.

              Elizabeth Lo

              Elizabeth Lo is an award-winning director whose work has shown at Sundance, Tribeca, MoMA. Selected for Filmmaker Magazine’s 25 New Faces of Independent Film and DOC NYC’s 40 Under 40 list, her award-winning feature, STRAY, was nominated for an Independent Spirit Award and released by Magnolia Pictures and Dogwoof in 2021. Her latest film MISTRESS DISPELLER was in official selection at Toronto International Film Festival and Venice International Film Festival.

              Ross McClean

              Ross McClean (1991) is a filmmaker from Belfast, Northern Ireland. His films have screened in over 50 local and international film festivals. Hydebank (2019) premiered at DokLeipzig, IDFA, Hot Docs and won Best Short Documentary at Galway, London Short, Spektrum, Docs Ireland and Leeds. His latest short film, Echo (2023), premiered at IDFA, True/False, Sheffield DocFest & Camerimage, winning Best Short Documentary at Kerry Film Festival. Ross is currently in production on his first feature length documentary supported by BFI DocSociety & Arte and a short documentary supported by Sandbox & The New York Times.
