SOCIETY:CINEMA
PRESSEN, POLITIKENS HUS: March 17–19. At SOCIETY:CINEMA, we take the TikTok pace out of major geopolitical challenges and make room for debate and reflection. With activists from the US, first-hand accounts from Gaza, and witnesses to the impact of social media on our mental health, we once again focus on rights when PRESSEN opens its doors to some of today's most important films and debates.
The program begins on Tuesday, March 17, with the heartbreaking and important film ‘American Doctor’, which follows three doctors at a hospital in Gaza. Afterwards, you can meet Nadia Hardman from Human Rights Watch and other voices who have been part of the healthcare defense line. Next, we will show ‘Molly vs. The Machines’ and discuss the tech giants’ responsibility for young people’s mental well-being with the film’s director, Marc Silver, and psychologist Lotte Rubæk.
On Wednesday, we turn our attention to a divided United States when we show ‘Just Look Up’. Here you can meet the film’s directors Emma Wall and Betsy Hershey, along with members of the activist group Climate Defense, who have dedicated their lives to the climate fight and battle Donald Trump’s administration every day. Or get closer to the legal fight for women’s equal rights when we show ‘Silenced’.
On Thursday, you can get up close and personal with the Russian propaganda machine and the soldiers who fight every day in Ukraine. We will be showing ‘A Little Grey Wolf Will Come’, followed by a debate on standing up to the Russian government and its propaganda strategies. Afterwards, we will be showing this year’s opening film, ‘MARIINKA’.
