          Your Algorithm Exploits Your Attention

After the screening of 'Molly vs. The Machines' we discuss how Big Tech has built business models that exploits it's users and how we can hold them accountable. With author prof. Shoshana Zuboff, the films director Marc Silver and psychologist Lotte Rubæk.

Meet Shoshana Zuboff, author of The Age of Surveillance Capitalism, when she participates digitally at the festival, in covnersation with the director of Marc Silver and Danish psychologist Lotte Rubæk, as we discuss the power of algorithms and their effects on our pliable minds. In several countries around the world, there is debate going on, about whether to set an age limit on social media, and it is becoming increasingly clear how negative the consequences of social media are for our mental health. But how do we hold Big Tech accountable? How do we fight against a business model based on unlimited profit and power? And how do we protect future generations from the tech giants’ abdication of responsibility? We will explore all of this and hopefully offer a little hope for the future.

At SOCIETY:CINEMA, we take the TikTok-tempo out of the major geopolitical challenges and make room for nuances and reflection. With activists from the US, first-hand accounts from Gaza, and witnesses to the impact of social media on our mental health, we once again focus on human-, civil-, and international rights when Pressen opens its doors to the most important socital debates, here and now.
