Astrid Lindgren’s war diaries and spiritual armament in the Nordics – Film and talk with Bertel Haarder
Astrid Lindgren portrait and talk with former member of the Danish Parliament and the author of ‘Sjælespark’, Bertel Haarder, about our collective cultural values in the Nordics.
Most children in the Nordics are familiar with Astrid Lindgren’s collective works. For 80 years, her literature has brought smiles and tears to children and adults alike, but how many people actually know the story behind Pippi? After the screening of the film ‘A World Gone Mad – The War Diaries of Astrid Lindgren’ about the great Swedish author’s assessment of World War II, we delve into our shared Nordic cultural heritage and take a closer look at what brings us together when the world otherwise seems to be tearing us apart. Together with former member of the Danish Parliament and author of ‘Sjælespark’, Bertel Haarder, we will discuss spiritual armament, Astrid Lindgren’s guiding values and the Nordic community. The event is presented in collaboration with Cinemateket and the Danish Film Institute’s project Norden på film.
About Norden på film
‘Norden på film’ builds bridges between Nordic countries through film. The project opens up the Nordic film treasure trove and uses moving images to spark curiosity, create understanding and start conversations across borders – in the classroom, online and in the cinema. The initiative was created by the Danish Film Institute with support from the A.P. Møller Foundation in close collaboration with Nordic film libraries, film archives and other Nordic partners.
