At the screening of ‘Just Look Up’ in our SOCIETY:CINEMA, you can meet the films two directors, Emma Hall and Betsy Hershey, together with two of the films protagonists and activist, Michael and Maxwell, in conversation about what is currently happening on the streets and the places of power in the USA.
Michael and Maxwell have fought for climate justice most of their lives, they run the activist group Climate Defense and they are not giving up. But their already incredibly diffucult fight for a greener future has gotten close to impossible with the new Trump administration. Learn more about their daily fight against an increasily authoritarian government, the act of activism and risking everything for fighting for whats right.
Michael is the founder and executive director of Climate Defiance. His work focuses on resisting new fossil fuel infrastructure and making climate change a top issue in American politics. Michael and the team’s work has been profiled in the New Republic, New York Times, the Guardian, Bloomberg and Rolling Stone.
Maxwell is a direct action activist based in Washington, D.C. Maxwell has led countless disruptions against some of the most powerful figures in American politics, the fossil fuel industry, and the financial sector, amassing millions of views online and contributing to concrete policy changes during the Biden Administration.
