Join us when we open our three thematic cinemas: SOCIETY-, SCIENCE-, and ART
In less than 10 days, we will open the doors to 12 days of amazing documentaries and exciting events.
Monday 10th Mar 2025
As usual, we have curated a unique film and event program for our three thematic stages, where you can dive into three of the festival’s central thematic tracks: society, science, and art. Each stage is dedicated to providing you with unique perspectives on the theme, where documentaries meet in-depth discussions and contextualizing events.
SOCIETY:CINEMA in Pressen
From March 21. – 23.
We kick off the festival’s first weekend with a screening of The Last Republican, where we’ll be joined by none other than the featured Republican, former U.S. Congressman Adam Kinzinger. In the evening, we’ll show Becoming Madonna and delve into the discussion about the line between being an ‘ally’ for marginalized groups and appropriating minority cultures. We’ll then wrap up the evening with a huge party at Pressen, celebrating all of Madonna’s greatest hits.
The rest of the weekend offers debates and film experiences that range from the justice system in Greenland to the major challenges within the school system. You’ll also get an exclusive experience with architect Eyal Weizman from Forensic Architecture, gain a unique insight into Jens Stoltenberg’s last years as NATO’s Secretary General in Facing War, and dive into how journalist My Vingren infiltrates a neo-Nazi network in Hacking Hate.

SOCIETY:CINEMA
Once again this year, we welcome you to a three-day social festival in collaboration with our media partner, Politiken. From March 21–23, there will be SOCIETY:CINEMA in Pressen.
SCIENCE:CINEMA at Nationalmuseet
From March 25. – 27.
We open SCIENCE:CINEMA on March 25th, presenting a screening of Emil Nørgaard Munk’s portrait of author Andrea Hejlskov, titled Heks, followed by a conversation with three modern witches and an exploration of the exhibition Vølvens Varsel.
Later that evening, we’ll show the documentary The Human Race, which takes a close look at evolutionary biologist Eske Willerslev and his tireless search for answers, insight, and new knowledge. After the film, Eske Willerslev will be joined on stage by his research colleague, Thomas Werge, for a discussion.
The next two days of SCIENCE:CINEMA will feature, among other things, a science talk show on elements, a panel debate on the future of the internet with, among others, the collective Softer, Netcompany’s communications director Le Gammeltoft, and researcher Katrine K. Pedersen, as well as a host of debates and nerdy, insightful discussions on everything from deep-sea mining and the green transition to women in male-dominated research environments and much more.

An evening that offers a great mix of experimental performances, creative workshops, atmospheric readings, and sharp, thought-provoking art talks – all set in the heart of the art scene and completely free.
The rest of the weekend promises exciting experiences, including the Sundance winner The Brink of Dreams, a guided tour following the film Take the Money and Run about Jens Haaning’s famous and notorious artwork of the same name, and a conversation about artificial intelligence in the art world. You’ll also experience the poetic film A Stranger in the World, followed by a chamber choir concert with 24 singers on SMK’s stunning stage.
