CPH:DOX – Copenhagen International Documentary Film Festival – is one of Denmark’s largest cultural events as well as one of the largest documentary film festivals in the world with more than 125,000 yearly attendances. The festival’s platform for professionals CPH:INDUSTRY annually attracts 2,000+ national and international delegates.

Become an intern for CPH:DOX 2025
These positions are now filled in for the 2025 edition of CPH:DOX.
The Industry Department is in charge of activities aimed toward the wide range of film professionals and emerging talents attending the festival. As an intern, you will get a unique insight into the international documentary film community, its institutions and key players and learn about how film projects are matched with the right partners, investors, sales agents and distributors. The department is divided into groups that collaborate on a number of projects, including:
- CPH:FORUM including CPH:WIP and CHANGE: Interns will assist in scouting film projects from all over the world, communicate with interested producers and filmmakers and take part in the research of international financiers and industry representatives to help finance and distribute future films. Interns will furthermore assist with gathering material from selected teams, for print, web and presentation during the pitch event, as well as with production and execution of CPH:INDUSTRY’s flagship 4-day financing event.
- CPH:LAB Interns will participate in the production of an innovative professional training program, communicate with the mentors and participants, see the production of an online workshop, and participate in the communication of the program, documenting it on the web and in a printed catalogue.
- CPH:CONFERENCE Interns will see how a big international conference is organised, and what needs to be prepared in terms of the technical equipment, locations, presentation media gathering, schedules and timetables. They will communicate with speakers and curators, assist in the preparation of the production plans, coordinate a team of volunteers, prepare the venue and document the event.
- CPH:INDUSTRY (including International Delegations & INTRO:DOX): Interns will assist in organizing different networking and social events. The range of tasks is spread over the planning before and during the events. The tasks include communication with key speakers and partners, production of the event and assisting during the day of the event.
Independence, a sense of ownership, responsibility, a high level of organisational skills and attention to detail are key competencies needed. A collaborative spirit, open communication and eagerness to learn are also important values and assets within the department. The ability to speak Danish is not a requirement.

- The workload varies and we will of course take your studies into account.

Timeline:
- CPH:FORUM internship period runs from October 2024 to April 15, 2025.
- CPH:LAB internship period runs from August 2024 to December 2024 OR December 2024 to April 15, 2025.
- CPH:CONFERENCE internship period runs from November 2024 to April 15, 2025.
- CPH:INDUSTRY internship period runs from November 2024 to April 15, 2025.

The Guest Department handles the more than 1,000 international guests as well as the several hundreds of guests connected to the Danish film industry. You will get a unique insight into the festival world and production including project management skills and competencies.
As an intern, you will be in direct contact with some of the most important visitors from the Danish and international film industry. It is therefore important that you have good communication skills (ability to speak Danish is not required), that you are well-organised and have attention to detail.
As an intern in the Guest Department, you will amongst other things be participating in the following:
- Representing CPH:DOX towards the world, meaning that the industry guests will be communicating with you regarding their festival attendance.
- Coordinating and booking the guests’ hotel accommodation, travel, and accreditation.
- During the festival you will be present at our festival centre welcoming guests at our Info Desk, and taking care of their questions and accreditation.
Practical information
- The internship period runs from November 15 to April 15, 2025.
- The workload varies and we will of course take your studies into account.
- The internship is unpaid and it is therefore important that you can use it as part of an ongoing education.

The Inter:Active exhibition is an ongoing exploration of creativity and technology. Each year we examine a different aspect of the impact of emerging tech on arts and society through a carefully-curated selection of recent immersive and interactive work, created in a variety of media (such as VR, MR, AR, installations, performances, video games, AI chatbots etc.).
We are looking for interns who are passionate about art, documentaries and new technologies. You are eager to create a space where artists from different backgrounds and communities are represented. You are interested in reaching out to audiences and creating an exhibition space more accessible to all.
About you:
Independence, the ability to take initiatives, a high level of organisational skills and attention to detail are key competencies needed. A collaborative spirit, open communication, being handy and eagerness to learn are also important values and assets within the team. It is a big plus if you have an interest in new technologies. You will be in direct contact with our visitors, both our local audience and international film industry guests. It is therefore important that you have good communication skills. The ability to speak Danish is not a requirement.
The Inter:Active Exhibition is a small team and as an intern you will be involved in all processes.
Your tasks may include:
- Take part in meetings with selected artists to understand their needs
- Communicating about the exhibition
- Coordinating the outreach activities of the exhibition
- Assist in the website update and tickets creation process
- Assist in the collection of communication materials for our online and printed material
- Prepare contracts with artists
- Coordinate a team of volunteers and assist in the preparation of briefing materials
- Assisting in setting up, running and taking down the exhibition.

Are you interested in getting experience with the organization and execution of events, parties, dinners, and happy hours for both the film industry and our audience? Then the Event & Hosting department of CPH:DOX is the perfect place for you.
In Event & Hosting we organize and execute events. The tasks will vary, so it’s important that you’re prepared for long working hours during the festival (the days before will be shorter). We’re looking for somebody who’s responsible and social, who can maintain an overview during our events, and have an eye for the details that make a great experience.
As an intern you will be:
- planning and hosting dinners and happy hour events
- planning bigger parties and executing them
- making invitation lists and sending out invitations
- coordinating and taking responsibility for our volunteers, making sure that they get a good experience when helping us with our events
Practical information:
The internship period lasts from the beginning of January 2025 until the end of April 2025. The average working hours are standard full time (37h/week), but the workload varies. We’ll of course accommodate your studies in our planning.

We’ll be conducting interviews continuously towards the beginning of the festival.
During the festival, CPH:DOX move into Kunsthal Charlottenborg, Bremen Teater, and many other venues around Copenhagen with film screenings, concerts, events, interactive art exhibition, debates, and much more.
Do you enjoy being part of a tight team where we work together to bring the festival to life, then the production department is likely the place for you. We’re looking for interns who are ready to put on the work gloves, and who have the ability to find amusement in the occasional bit of chaos.
We plan and build the venues needed for the festival and we help plan and execute events, conferences, concerts – all with the aim to create the best possible experience for our audience.
In the production department we strive to help you gain experience with the planning and execution of events and all of the challenges and unforeseen situations that undoubtedly happen during the execution of a production at the size of CPH:DOX.
We’re looking for interns for two different positions:
- Production assistant:
It’s an advantage, but not a firm requirement, if you have experience with festival-, film-, or concert production. You need to have good planning skills and a steady overview, and you need to be able to keep a clear mind in stressful situations and execute tasks independently. You also need to have the confidence to address a 100 noisy guests, should we need them all to shift one seat to the right – or something like that. We need somebody who:
- wants to be part of a dynamic work environment
- can keep a clear head and make decisions in busy conditions
- is prepared to take action
- finds it fun and stimulating to manage the chaos of brining big events to life
It’s a plus if you:
- have a standard driving license (type B) and are prepared to drive a van in the streets of Copenhagen
- Venue assistant
We’re looking for interns who will be assisting our venue managers in the planning and execution of events, film screenings, concerts, and the handling of technical equipment. You’ll also be briefing and remain as a point of contact for our wonderful volunteers, as well as handling our ticketing system, our guests, our discount offers, while also being in contact with our collaborators, sponsors, and artists.
During the festival you’ll be a mainstay at one of our venues, so you’ll get to experience the very special feeling of being the first to arrive and the last to leave on a big cultural event.
We’re looking for somebody who:
- wants be part of a dynamic work collective
- is prepared to take action
- is open and social
- is independent and structured
- has the courage and confidence to speak up to a large crowd
- finds it fun and stimulating to manage the chaos of brining big events to life

The ticket department is responsible for the creation and coordination of thousands of tickets for all of the screenings and events during CPH:DOX.
As an intern you’ll be part of a team situated between the production team, the venues, our many customers, and our ticket platform Eventive. We’re looking for structured interns who can help make sure that our many screenings and tickets are created and organized in the system, and who want to service our customers when they call with questions or issues with their tickets.
As an intern you will:
- staff the festival’s ticket phone and service our ticket buyers
- create and coordinate changes for our many tickets in the system
- coordinate and support the use of the system in our many venues
- coordinate with the programme- and guest department when tickets are reserved for VIPs and guests
We’re looking for someone who:
- has a structured mind
- enjoys working with customer service
- is a natural IT user
- speaks Danish and English fluently
Practical information:
The workload varies throughout the internship, and we’ll of course accommodate your studies. The internship is unpaid so it’s important that you can use it as part of your current studies. We strongly recommend that you are available to work during the entire festival, weekends included.
