          The Pledge

          Daniela Nedovescu & Octavian Mot / Germany / Interactive AI Installation / 2025 / 2 min

'The Pledge' is an interactive installation turning encounters with AI bias into a collective digital monument.

          Artist statement

The Pledge’, part of the AI & Me work series, is an interactive installation that transforms personal confrontation with AI bias into a collective digital monument. Participants face a camera as an AI analyzes their appearance and generates a personalized statement, a pledge, rooted in the machine’s biases.

Each individual must then decide: speak the statement aloud into a microphone, or walk away. If spoken, accepted individuals are projected in hyper-realistic form onto large screens.

‘The Pledge’ asks a simple question: What are we willing to give up to be seen? And can we consent to a machine’s partial gaze, knowing it flattens us?

The machine may display text and/or images that are uncensored that may contain nudity and strong language, which some participants may find inappropriate or emotionally distressing.

This piece will be exhibited in the courtyard of Kunsthal Charlottenborg the whole duration of the festival (March 11-22, 2026) and is accessible to the public.
