Just Look Up
Emma Wall & Betsy Hershey / United States & Denmark / 2026 / World Premiere / 94 min
Michael Greenberg is a defiant young visionary and climate activist in the US. With the timing of a stand-up comedian, lightning intelligence, and the charisma of a young Bob Dylan, he is rallying a generation in the fight for a livable future.
The young activist Michael Greenberg is the founder and leader of the climate movement Climate Defiance, and through him we gain a unique insight into contemporary climate resistance in constant motion. Inspired by Gandhi, the US civil rights movement, and ACT UP, he calls for civil disobedience against the forces that are destroying the planet, and we meet a diverse, idealistic community that improvises, fails, changes tack, and continues, driven by an unshakeable will and enormous energy.
In other words, a magnetic center for a film about what is probably the greatest challenge of our time. Directors Emma Wall and Betsy Hershey follow Greenberg and his fellow activists in their actions, their crises, and their breakthroughs. They share a desperation over the apathetic attitude toward the climate, but that does not mean they agree on everything. With their non-violent actions, they shake society awake and create viral waves on social media. And in ‘Just Look Up’, this is fuelled musically by Chappell Roan, Doechii and Billie Eilish – voices that, like Greenberg himself, speak on behalf of a generation that wants change now.
