Fantasy
Isabel Pagliai / France / 2025 / 79 min
Sexuality, the body, and dark desires are the driving forces in a truly original French hybrid film about a young woman who loses a notebook containing all her inner secrets.
Louise is a young woman who writes down her secret fantasies, thoughts, and desires in her notebook. In her world, sexuality are closer to the messy, physical realities than to the polished form that eroticism all too often takes on film. When she accidentally loses the book on a train, it is picked up by a young man who reads it and is lured into her inner universe.
Isabel Pagliai’s debut film lives up to its title and follows the poetic logic of the night and of dreams. But it is also based on the real self of its main character and is a vital – and often witty – attempt at how to make a completely original film on a minimal budget. Call the genre ‘Modern French’ and tell everyone you heard about it here first. NB: Contains short scenes with flickering, strobe-like images.
