ART:CINEMA
CPH:DOX has always insisted that documentary films are art. And what better place to emphasize this than at our art scene, ART:CINEMA at SMK.
In the beautiful, magnificent surroundings of the National Gallery of Denmark, we open the doors to ART:CINEMA and a weekend full of documentaries with the body and art at the center, framed with guided tours, artist talks, workshop visits, and concerts.
This year’s theme ‘Body Politics’ moves into both the cinema and the museum’s Sculpture Street on the first day of the scene, where we focus on the significance of architecture for the healing of the body with the documentary film ‘Rehab (From Rehab)’ and a debate facilitated by the architecture festival CAFx.
For the rest of the weekend, you can look forward to guided tours at SMK, visits to the museum’s workshops, and a very special Sakamoto concert, when pianist and composer Nicolai Kornerup interprets selected works by Sakamoto following the screening of the film about the recently deceased Japanese artist, and fills the beautiful halls with melodic music created especially for the occasion.
We conclude Sunday afternoon. Remember that with your cinema ticket under ART:CINEMA, you have access to SMK all day and can look forward to exploring the museum’s many exhibitions. If you have an annual pass to SMK, you get a 20 percent discount. ART:CINEMA is developed and presented in collaboration with SMK.
