          Yomna Khattab / Egypt, Denmark & Saudi Arabia / 2025 / World Premiere / 72 min

Deeply charming Egyptian debut from an outswimming pool in Cario where an adult daughter's relationship with her good-natured father is universally recognizable about life's big questions.

Yomna is struggling to get her first movie made. It’s not easy to find your own means of expression without the right protagonist. And this is where her good-natured father literally enters the picture. He is an elderly gentleman, but he is young at heart and has many friends with whom he spends his time around an outdoor swimming pool in the middle of Cairo. Yomna turns the camera on her father, and soon her film takes shape before our very eyes. Although her father is a great guy, he may not have been so good at opening his heart to Yomna about the deeper questions of life. ’50 Meters’ is a deceptively simple film that is not afraid to swim in the deep end, and takes its ‘less is more’ philosophy to a whole new level of ‘more’. You will be looking forward to see Yomna Khattab’s next film before her debut is even over.
