'50 meters': Who has the right to tell the stories?

’50 meters’: Who has the right to tell the stories?

In the company of director Yomna Khattab, Marina Vorobyeva (emerging director) og Haena Laura Na Blankholm (visual antropologist), we examine how filmmakers who convey great narratives are influenced by their own personal relationship to history.

It is a discussion we never truly finish—the question of how filmmakers, who convey grand narratives, are influenced by their own personal relationship to the story. Who has the right to tell which stories? And does lived experience make a particular story a universal one?

After the screening of 50 Meters, we invite you to a conversation with the film’s director, Yomna Khattab og filmmaker Marina Vorobyeva. Together, we will explore who has the right to tell which stories and how representation plays a role in film and documentary work. The conversation will be moderated by Jennifer Tonndorff, who has extensive experience in diversity, representation, and storytelling in documentary film.
