Thank you to our CPH:DOX 2026 Volunteers
Thank you to all your amazing efforts volunteering at CPH:DOX 2026!
Want to become a volunteer at CPH:DOX 2027? CPH:DOX 2027 will run from 10–21 March 2027.
We are looking for committed volunteers who are ready to work flexibly, so that together we can make CPH:DOX the best festival to date!
This will be the 24th time that CPH:DOX opens its doors to a festival with the ambition of presenting the audience with the best documentary films from both Denmark and abroad – while focusing on some of the most controversial and pressing issues of our time through talks, debates and events.
If you are interested in volunteering at CPH:DOX 2027, sign up to Kulturens Frivillige and “heart” CPH:DOX as an organization. You will be contacted early next year with more information.
Types of shifts
You can be part of CPH:DOX in many different ways. Below is an overview of the different types of shifts you can take, with a description of the types of activities you may have, and if there are any additional requirements for volunteers in this area.
Please note: Volunteers must volunteer for a minimum of 2 shifts (3 if you’re volunteering in the industry department).
The venue host greets the CPH:DOX audience when they arrive at the venue. You help them find their screening room, scan their tickets and guide them to get seated at the screening. Between screening we make sure that the cinema is nice and tidy.
We’re looking for volunteers who are friendly and service-minded to make sure our guests feel welcome.
You’ll take instructions from the CPH:DOX ticket staff or venue manager who is present during your shift.
The industry guide greets the professionals and scans their badges as they arrive at our venues. Oftentimes we need to help them locate the correct room or place for the event they are attending.
We’re looking for volunteers who are friendly and service-minded to make sure our guests feel welcome.
English fluency is a requirement.
You’ll take instructions from the CPH:INDUSTRY staff who are present during your shift.
The exhibition host greets the audience of our INTER:ACTIVE exhibition at Kunsthal Charlottenborg. You either scan tickets or work as a guide inside the exhibition to help people navigate the spaces and engage with the artworks.
We’re looking for volunteers who are friendly and service-minded to make sure our guests feel welcome and have good English language skills.
No tech-knowledge is needed but interest to work with immersive experiences and new media projects (XR, VR, AI) is a plus.
You’ll take instructions and manuals of how to use the artworks from the INTER:ACTIVE venue manager who is present during your shift.
The Info desk shifts take place at Charlottenborg foyer. The volunteers are responsible for greeting VIP guests and filmmakers, handing out accreditations, and answering programme questions. You are many people’s first point of contact when arriving at the festival, so it is important to bring a warm, friendly and helpful attitude to the shift.
You’ll take instructions from the Guest staff who are present during your shifts.
The production shifts entail building and de-installing our major productions at the festival. Examples are our festival center at Kunsthal Charlottenborg, our Industry center at Odd Fellow Mansion and our cinema at Bremen Teater.
We’re looking for any volunteers who like to get things done and if you have any practical skills that’s only a plus.
Some production shifts will also be available ahead of the festival and after the festival.
You’ll take instructions from the CPH:DOX production staff who are present during your shifts.
Terms & Conditions
Welcome on board! Without the enthusiasm of volunteers like you, CPH:DOX would simply not be possible. We’re sure that we will have a great time working together this year, but to avoid any problems along the way, we’ve made a list of our mutual responsibilities:
- As a CPH:DOX volunteer, you are the face of the festival, so please behave accordingly. Make sure that you treat the festival audiences, guests, employees, colleagues and coordinators with the respect they deserve.
- As a volunteer, you will volunteer at least 8 hours. The shift duration varies. Depending on the job, some shifts may also take place prior or after the festival, i.e. general production and preparation. Generally speaking, shifts are from March 19th – March 30th 2025. However, if you are part of the production or marketing team, shifts may be earlier in March.
- Please be on time. We expect that you are ready at the start of your shift. If it’s your first shift please arrive earlier, so we can show you where you can store your things etc.
- The Volunteer Coordinator serves as your contact within the festival organization. Please follow your coordinator’s instructions. Each shift has a Shift supervisor who is the one responsible for your shift, who assigns your tasks, instructs you and organizes breaks.
- Please remember, you are not alone. If you encounter any problems along the way, don’t hesitate to address them with your Volunteer Coordinator or the Shift supervisor.
- The use of alcohol or drugs while you’re on the job is strictly prohibited.
- All volunteers will be given a volunteer T-shirt which you will wear during your shifts.
- As a volunteer you are consenting to your image being used and published across digital and social platforms for CPH:DOX and Kulturens Frivillige.
In the event that volunteers fail to follow the above terms and conditions, CPH:DOX reserves the right to take appropriate measures.
