This year’s music section at CPH:DOX features, among other things, portrait documentaries about Nick Cave, Marianne Faithfull, Judas Priest, Boy George & Culture Club, Sun Ra Arkestra, and Danish artist Lydmor. It also includes more genre-focused films about funk, folk, Arctic music traditions, postcolonial Irish music, and talented classical child musicians. Last but certainly not least, Danish legend Lars H.U.G. has created his first art film with brand-new music on the soundtrack—and will perform live alongside the film!
But it doesn’t end with the documentaries. Each year, CPH:DOX makes a special effort to expand the cinema experience with talks, unique events, or parties. And this is, of course, also the case for this part of the program. Among other highlights, audiences can look forward to concerts by Lydmor (who will perform her critically acclaimed album Nimue in full for the very first time), Greenlandic rapper Tarrak, Lars H.U.G., and Luna Ersahid from the band AySay.
