Who are boys raised to be in Taliban’s Afghanistan?

Martyrdom, war and loyalty to the Taliban. Journalist and documentary director Nagieb Khaja introduces 'Kabul Between Prayers' and nuances extremism in Afghanistan.

Through atmospheric clips from Kabul, ‘Kabul Between Prayers’ shows us the everyday life of Afghan brothers, where the expectation is that boys will join the Taliban. In this introduction, Nagieb Khaja draws on more than a decade of journalistic work in Afghanistan. He has met and spoken with members of the Taliban in various contexts and has himself been detained by the movement. Based on his own work, Khaja explains what extremism represents in Afghanistan.

The introduction will be in Danish.

During the day, you can meet author Uzma Akbari, DFUNK and human rights advocate Manilla Ghafuri, who will each contribute their perspectives on Afghanistan’s culture, politics and current struggles. In addition, you can look forward to tasting haft mewa, the traditional Nowruz dessert, served with green tea, and exploring Afghan handicrafts at the Østerland stand.
