Mushrooms as Medicine: An Evening of Dinner & Film
What can mushrooms teach us about the past and the future? Join us for dinner by Grønt Marked, followed by a short introduction by psychologist and PhD fellow Nikita Morel.
Mushrooms are far more than something that ends up on a plate. They connect ecosystems beneath the soil, carry knowledge across generations, and are increasingly central to new conversations in medicine, ecology, and culture. For this special afternoon, we explore the world of fungi from multiple perspectives – scientific, cultural and ecological.
We begin with an introduction by Nikita Morel, PhD fellow at the Copenhagen University Clinic for Psychedelic Research (NOESIS). Her research forms part of the EU Horizon trial PsyPal, where she investigates psilocybin-assisted therapy for psychological distress in patients receiving palliative care. Drawing on her work in psychedelic research, she will speak about the growing scientific interest in psilocybin and how mushrooms are reappearing in contemporary discussions about mental health, therapy, and our relationship to nature.
In partnership with Grønt Marked, they have prepared a mushroom-based dish especially for this event. Grønt Marked works to strengthen connections between city and countryside and to support a more local, community-based food system. For this occasion, their values take shape in a seasonal meal centred on fungi and carefully sourced ingredients.
An evening of research, a shared mushroom meal and cinema — an invitation to look at fungi as medicine, nourishment, and part of a changing world.
This event is in English.
