          Lost in psychiatry

Meet Svend Aage Madsen, psychologist, PhD, and clinical specialist in a conversation about the limitations of the psychiatric system.

In ‘In defense of Self’, 39-year-old Morten struggles to find help for his mental health. Navigating the psychiatric system as a patient can feel like getting lost in a complex landscape. Many people experience being passed between departments, practitioners, and treatment options without finding a place where they feel truly seen, heard, or supported.

When someone is already in a vulnerable life situation, a lack of continuity and human connection can deepen feelings of loneliness and powerlessness. What is it like to be a patient in a system often strained by limited time and resources? And what role do communities – both professional and human – play when people need support, understanding, and a place to belong?

This talk will be in Danish.
