Fairuz Tribute: Film Screening and Concert with Dana Alshihaby at the David Collection
Experience an intimate concert with Dana Alshihaby, accompanied by oud player Bilal Irshed, at the David Collection – an atmospheric tribute to Lebanon and Fairuz's enduring legacy.
In Do You Love Me, we travel through 70 years of Lebanese history told in sound and images. The documentary explores Beirut’s collective memory and depicts a country shaped by trauma, joy and everything in between.
The film’s use of archive material points to a strong thematic kinship with David’s Collection as a museum. Both the film and the museum work with preservation as a way of understanding, interpreting and remembering. That is why we are opening our doors to a special screening in the museum, followed by an intimate concert that allows history to resonate in music.
Dana Alshihaby combines soulful traditions from Arabic music with modern musical expressions. With a classical vocal training from Syria and Denmark, she moves effortlessly between Arabic quarter tones and Western jazz tones, creating a personal, contemporary sound universe. On stage, she is accompanied by the virtuoso oud player Bilal Irshed.
This evening, Dana will interpret songs by Fairuz – one of Lebanon’s most iconic voices. During the 15-year civil war, Fairuz refused to take sides and instead sang for a united Lebanon. At a time when Beirut was divided, her voice became a rallying point and a symbol of hope.
Come and celebrate Fairuz and Lebanon at Davids Samling!
