Expressing Yourself Inside and Outside of Afghanistan
Using art and storytelling as tools, DFUNK's Lida Afghan and human rights advocate Manilla Ghafuri invite the audience to share in experiences from Afghanistan after a screening of IDFA winner 'A Fox Under a Pink Moon'.
Following the screening of ‘A Fox Under a Pink Moon’, in which we follow Soraya’s story of escape and survival through art, we continue with another powerful narrative, presented in collaboration with DFUNK – Danish Refugee Council Youth.
After the film, you can meet Lida Afghan from DFUNK’s Storytelling Network, who, together with Manilla Ghafuri, project manager for activism at Amnesty, will take the floor and focus on art as an activist and political tool for communicating experiences and voices from Afghanistan.
Lida, who herself has an Afghan background, will give a nuanced insight into the political situation in Afghanistan, with a particular focus on developments since the Taliban took power in 2021. Drawing on both her own journey and the experiences of other Afghan women, she will explain how art is used as a form of resistance and activism in a time marked by oppression.
The event invites the audience to join in the conversation.
The presentation will be in Danish.
Come and celebrate Nowruz with us at CPH:DOX! During the day, you can meet journalist and documentary director Nagieb Khaja and author Uzma Akbari, who will both contribute their perspectives on Afghanistan’s culture, politics and current struggles. In addition, you can look forward to tasting haft mewa, the traditional Nowruz dessert, served with green tea, and exploring Afghan handicrafts at the Østerland booth.
