CPH:DOX at Absalon: Film & Communal Dining
CPH:DOX and Absalon invite you inside for an evening of film and communal dining. Join us for a night that begins around the table and continues in front of the screen with a screening of 'Christiania'. Experience how stories and shared meals can create space for dialogue, reflection, and collective inspiration.
Share a meal with 200 others and afterwards gain new insight into Christiania’s history on the big screen. It will be an evening where we explore how ideas of solidarity, creativity, and shared responsibility can unfold in both large and small ways. About presence, encounters between people, and feeling the power of community firsthand. Perhaps you will leave inspired to create communities in your own everyday life.
About the film ‘Christiania’
In 1971, hundreds of young people occupied the abandoned barracks on Bådsmandsstræde in Copenhagen, and just like that, Christiania was born. A wild experiment in freedom and community that became a real alternative to established society.
Christiania is a captivating piece of Danish cultural history, filled with the colorful and serious stories that have shaped a community for more than 50 years. It is about a unique place on the map of Denmark that is entirely its own — and still fighting to remain so. And hooray for that!
