Conversation with Alisa Kovalenko: Making films in war

Director Conversation with Alisa Kovalenko about making films in war as a female filmmaker and as a female soldier. Presented in collaboration with WIFT.

After the screening of ‘My Dear Theo’, we invite you to a conversation with director Alisa Kovalenko, who herself was a soldier on the front line in Ukraine. The conversation will focus on the unique challenge of making films in war, and how Kovalenko, as a female filmmaker and soldier, navigates a world filled with extreme pressure and great personal risk. How does her vulnerable position as both artist and woman affect her narrative from a life-threatening conflict? What difference do films that document and process the human cost of war make? An in-depth conversation about the power of film in times of crisis and the perspective from the front. The event is presented in collaboration with WIFT (Women in Film and Television), which serves a glass of wine after the screening. Language: English
