All Kids Have the Right to Education: A Screening in Collaboration with Africa Engage

In collaboration with Africa Engage, we are hosting an evening dedicated to all children's right to education. Meet the director behind ‘Out of School’, Hind Bensari, in a conversation about children's rights and the living conditions of many Moroccan children.

12-year-old Mohamed can no longer continue his education. His parents cannot afford to send him on the 35-kilometer journey to the nearest school offering secondary education. Without schooling, his dreams of finding work in the city and lifting his family out of poverty begin to fade. His sister Fatima, who is about to finish her last year at the village school, hopes to avoid the same fate. She dreams of becoming a teacher and wearing jeans to work. She wants a life that extends beyond housework and marriage.

After the screening of ‘Out of School’ we invite you to a panel discussion about the reality many children face: A reality where school must be put aside because adulthood calls far too early. Meet the film’s director, Hind Bensari, among others.

This conversation is presented in collaboration with Africa Engage, an initiative that strengthens professional collaboration with the African continent and provides better insight into the continent through film, curation, and events at CPH:DOX. This is made possible thanks to Open Puljen, Bullitt Film, Steps, and Film Lab Zanzibar.
