All Hail Feminism in Black Metal + Krøyer Mini Concert
Join us for an evening of feminist black metal, conversation, and live music with Ditte Krøyer (Krøyer & Vulvatorious), Sofie Angen (guitarist) and Hanna Ella Sandvik (Selvtægt Magasin).
As part of The Day of the Nordics at Cinemateket, Ditte Krøyer will perform a mini concert with songs from her solo project Krøyer ahead of the screening.
Following the film, Ditte Krøyer and guitarist Sofie Angen will join a panel discussion on feminism and equality within the metal community, moderated by Hanna Ella Sandvik, Content Director and Editor-in-Chief of Selvtægt Magasin.
Across the Nordic region, we often pride ourselves on cultures shaped by ideals of gender equality — while also being globally recognised for our deep-rooted metal scenes. Yet many women working within rock, heavy metal, and black metal still experience a space that affords greater visibility and legitimacy to men. This conversation looks at feminism in black metal from its early emergence to how it is expressed today, highlighting the artists, actors, and initiatives working to create stronger representation and new possibilities within the genre.
About Norden på film
‘Norden på film’ builds bridges between Nordic countries through film. The project opens up the Nordic film treasure trove and uses moving images to spark curiosity, create understanding and start conversations across borders – in the classroom, online and in the cinema. The initiative was created by the Danish Film Institute with support from the A.P. Møller Foundation in close collaboration with Nordic film libraries, film archives and other Nordic partners. Read more about the project at nordenpaafilm.org
The event is presented in collaboration with Cinemateket and the Danish Film Institute’s project Norden på film.
