          The Cycle of Love

          Orlando von Einsiedel / United Kingdom & Sweden / 2025 / European Premiere / 98 min

A young Indian man cycles 10,000 km from Delhi to Sweden to find the love of his life. An epic adventure film and an incredible but true story – and one of the biggest romantic hits of the year.

This story is so incredible that it’s almost hard to believe. In 1977, a poor 23-year-old artist met a young Swedish woman by chance – just as a fortune teller had predicted would happen when he was a boy. He drew her portrait, she returned home,  and shortly afterwards, he set off on his bicycle to travel the 10,000 km from Delhi to Sweden to find her again.

The story alone is a romantic stroke of luck, but the biggest scoop about ‘The Cycle of Love’ is that it is told by the two main characters themselves, fifty years later. The film reconstructs the epic journey of its Indian hero, P.K., to his beloved Lotta in a seamless, picturesque mix of street footage from the 1970s and modern scenes, woven together into a magical whole. Along the way, the young P.K. encounters a number of real-life destinies from contemporary India, where the caste system in which he himself grew up at the bottom continues to be a reality.
