          Qajaq Man

          Joe Derrick / Norway, Denmark & Greenland / 2026 / World Premiere / 67 min

A British chef paddles 3,000 kilometers along Greenland's west coast, surviving on nature's bounty and discovering the power of community in a country surrounded by geopolitical tensions.

British chef and adventurer Mike Keen goes on a kayaking expedition from Qaqortoq to Qaanaaq, a journey of 3,000 kilometers along Greenland’s west coast. With his kayak as his only companion, he sails through the vast landscapes and prepares his own versions of the Greenlandic menu – seal, whale, reindeer, musk ox and fish – while learning about the Inuit’s eating habits and diet. Each season brings new challenges, and Keen must navigate both nature and traditions to survive.

The film combines magnificent nature images with authentic mobile footage to create a vivid portrait of Greenland’s landscape, culture, and sense of community. Joe Derrick’s ‘Qajaq Man’ won the award for best documentary at the Nuuk International Film Festival and is produced by Nikolaj Coster-Waldau and filmed by Arina Kleist, who herself has a film at this year’s festival. An adventurous man, a kayak, and 3,000 kilometers – and a fantastic, cinematic journey through Greenland.
