Open My Mind
Marcel Wyss / Switzerland / 2026 / World Premiere / 95 min
Experimental, psychedelic therapy is put to the test in a film that is equal parts scientific and deeply personal, with the protagonist himself serving as the guinea pig.
Crises are piling up for Swiss filmmaker Marcel Wyss. His brother has recently passed away, his relationship is on thin ice, and his personal demons are slowly gaining the upper hand. Luckily for us, he fights back – and keeps a camera by his side. The crisis becomes a springboard for a scientific and personal leap down the rabbit hole of psychedelic therapy, where Marcel himself subjects himself to one experiment after another.
From a clinical mescaline experiment in the safe confines of a hospital to a muddy ayahuasca ceremony in the South American jungle. In addition to the Swiss precision of its scientific explanations, the film’s great trump card is Marcel’s radical openness about his experiences with both the experiments and the problems on the home front, which only worsen during the journey. Because even with expanded consciousness, you can never completely escape your personal demons.
