          Nick Cave’s Veiled World

          Mike Christie / United Kingdom / 2026 / 65 min

Friends, colleagues, and spiritual companions paint an intimate portrait of Nick Cave - an artist in transformation, shaped by grief, curiosity, and the search for meaning after the loss of his son.

Nick Cave’s dramatic life and equally dramatic persona are perfect material for a film. But this time we meet the man behind the myth. Cave himself appears only in audio clips, woven into rich archive material, while the narrative is carried by those who know him best – among them Warren Ellis and several members of The Bad Seeds, as well as some who have observed him from the sidelines, such as Flea, Florence Welch, Wim Wenders, and former Archbishop (!) Rowan Williams, who provide sharp readings of Cave’s often spiritual lyrics.

The many voices are brought together in an elegant chapter structure inspired by Cave’s own archetypal characters, creating a prismatic portrait of an artist in constant transformation. The focus is on the last decade, where Cave appears curious and caring with a new outlook on life after the tragic death of his son Arthur. A seismic shock that elegantly unfolds in a deep dive into the time around ‘Ghosteen’ – perhaps his most beautiful and heartbreaking album.
