A captivating portrait of legendary Liverpool player Sir Kenny Dalglish, told by the man himself, and directed by the Oscar-winning filmmaker behind ‘Amy’ and ‘Maradona’.
Football was better in the 1970s and 80s. Tea and biscuits were served in the dressing room, and the players identified with the ordinary man in the stands. A golden age that can be relived here in a magnificent, emotional portrait of the legendary Liverpool player Sir Kenny Dalglish. An honest trip down memory lane with one of the greatest and most humble heroes in soccer history.
King Kenny won all hearts on Merseyside and a total of 27 trophies. Through previously unseen archive clips and private recordings, we follow his career from its humble beginnings at Celtic to his heyday as a striker at Liverpool and later as a player-manager. But at the same time, it became Dalglish’s fate to carry the sorrows of an entire city on his shoulders. Two catastrophic stadium accidents in 1985 and 1989, in which many spectators died, cast a shadow over his life. Dalglish tells his own story—in his distinctive Scottish accent, of course—and the film is directed by the Oscar-winning director behind Amy and Maradona.
