In-I In Motion
Juliette Binoche / France / 2025 / 127 min
Juliette Binoche visits CPH:DOX with her debut film as director: An intimate film about the demanding creative process of developing a dance performance with herself on stage.
Juliette Binoche is one of the world’s most iconic actors. She had long wanted to explore dance when she met British dancer and choreographer Akram Khan, who himself wanted to try his hand at acting. This led to a collaboration that resulted in the critically acclaimed performance ‘In-I’, which they went on to perform more than a hundred times worldwide.
Binoche makes her directorial debut with an intimate film about the demanding creative process. We follow the two all the way from the first meetings and the hard training behind the scenes to the finished (and absolutely magnificent) performance seven months later. This is not just a film about dance: it is a film about creating something new and about testing one’s own limits – and perhaps discovering completely new sides of oneself along the way. The trust between the two artists is in itself extraordinary. The result is a unique encounter between art forms: dance, performance, acting and film.
