From this Day Forth
Jonatan Egholm Keis / Denmark / 2026 / World Premiere / 13 min
A renowned Danish actor is invited by a director to reenact his own heart attack, prompting a disturbing reflection on the mundane nature of everyday life and the fragility of existence.
In September 2016, a Danish actor suddenly collapsed from a heart attack on stage during a performance of Samuel Beckett’s play ‘The Fall’. But the actor cannot really remember what happened that day, nor can he recall the feeling of hovering on the edge of darkness.
That is why he is invited to take part in an experiment about the limits of documentary filmmaking by a Danish director. Together, they decide to recreate the moment on the actor’s living room floor to see if it can jolt his memory and bring back the memory.
‘From This Day Forth’ is an original re-enactment of the heart attack that nearly took the actor’s life. A cinematic, absurd and disturbing reflection on the mundane nature of everyday life and the fragility and transience of life.
