Hard-hitting and hopeful tragedy about a Norwegian MMA fighter whose life is tied to his ability to move. But when a tragic accident sets him back, he must reinvent himself from the bottom up.
Norwegian Geir Kåre has spent his whole life being in motion and moving, and now he’s on his way to a great career in the martial art of MMA. But on an ordinary summer day in the centre of Oslo, his whole life is shattered to atoms when he jumps headfirst into the water. When Geir Kåre wakes up in the hospital after the header, he still has a six-pack and muscular upper arms, but his back is broken and he can’t move his legs. His MMA career is a painful fata morgana, his relationship with his girlfriend is faltering, and depression lurks constantly. But Geir Kåre is a fighter. And in the midst of his grief, he throws himself back into the cage of life. He investigates alternative treatments, travels to Panama and finally has the conversation with his father that might explain where Geir’s taste for martial arts comes from. ‘Fighter’ is a hard-hitting tragedy full of hope, love and friendship – and it has an ending that can rock even the heaviest of mountains.
