Dreaming of Serenada
Katrine Weber / Uganda, Denmark & United States / 2026 / World Premiere / 75 min
Danish-Ugandan Luba returns to her father’s rainforest in Uganda to save what is on the brink of being lost. A personal story about climate struggle, identity, and belonging.
‘Dreaming of Serenada’ is a personal and political documentary about climate, belonging and a father-daughter relationship in a changing world. Luba Mukibi Lynch experiences a growing sense of powerlessness in the face of the climate crisis when her father’s resort on Lake Victoria is hit by flooding.
She lives in Copenhagen, but her thoughts revolve around Uganda – the nature and landscape of her childhood, her father’s rainforest – and what it means to take responsibility, both as a human being and as a daughter. And whether the time has come to return to her native country.
