Zlatan’s Nose
Nils Toftenow, Mathias Rosberg & Olle Toftenow / Sverige / 2025 / Verdenspremiere / 83 min
A film team hires a private detective to help them make a "true crime" about a nose stolen from the statue of the famous soccer player Zlatan Ibrahimović, but soon both the investigation and the film make an unexpected turn.
On the night of December 22, 2019, someone cuts off and steals the nose of the world-famous soccer player Zlatan Ibrahimovic’s statue in his hometown of Malmö, Sweden. The absurd crime receives a lot of attention, both in Sweden and internationally, but what happened that night and where the nose went remains a mystery. Two years later, a local film crew is commissioned by Swedish television to make a “true crime” about the case and to find the missing nose. They hire a private detective, Claes Ekman, and the investigation immediately makes progress. But then Claes starts behaving strangely. By directing himself and the people around him, he tries to make the documentary film more exciting – “like a James Bond film”. The film team is puzzled. Who is the man they have hired? Why does he want to live like in an action movie? And what is the point of it all?
Zlatan’s nose is a true story that explores our fictionalized reality and celebrates the human imagination.
