          ART:CINEMA

CPH:DOX has always insisted that documentary film is art. And what better place to emphasize that than on our art stage, ART:CINEMA at SMK - Statens Museum for Kunst (National Gallery of Denmark).

This year’s ART:CINEMA kicks off with the film W.O.M.B (Worth of My Body) at SMK Fridays, which this time focuses on Michelangelo’s work that almost unequivocally placed the human body at the center. In addition to the film, this Friday you can experience a delightful mix of creative workshops, art talks, readings, sound performances, and, of course, plenty of art!

For the rest of the weekend, you can look forward to films and events including the Sundance-winning The Brink of Dreams, which explores the fight for the right to free art; a debate about even renowned artists facing difficult salary conditions following the film Take the Money and Run about Jens Haaning’s famous and notorious work of the same name; as well as discussions on censorship and self-censorship in Turkey, artificial intelligence in the art world, and the impact of the internet on artists’ livelihoods. We’ll wrap up the weekend with the poetic film A Stranger in the World, followed by a chamber choir and piano concert in the beautiful Skulpturgade.

Remember, with your cinema ticket for ART:CINEMA, you have access to SMK all day and can look forward to exploring the museum’s many exhibitions. If you have an annual membership to SMK, you’ll receive a 20% discount. ART:CINEMA is developed and presented in collaboration with SMK.
