The Sequel to Summer Rain
Viktor Johansson / Sweden / 2025 / International Premiere / 77 min
An anarchic and hilarious meta-film about the chaotic struggle of a group of film fans to make a sequel to a cult Swedish film from the 90s.
In the 1990s, Kennet cast himself as a Nazi gang leader in his home-made action film ‘Summer Rain’. The plot was packed with dubious events of the most politically incorrect nature. Today, Kennet still lives with the shame of the film which has since achieved cult status. He is recognised on the streets and dedicated fans quote lines from the film and have created their own merchandise. When fan club president Sam spots Kennet in town one day, he tries to persuade Kennet to resume his career and make a sequel to ‘Summer Rain’. With promises of riches and fame, they manage to get production started on the long-awaited second film and the recipe is simple: Smoke, neon lights and hot babes and it’s sure to be a cool film. They just have one problem: Where are they going to find the hot chicks? An unruly film in the free-wheeling spirit of both ‘The Room’ and Dogma95.
