          Paul

          Denis Coté / Canada / 2025 / 88 min

A lonely man with low self-esteem has found the solution to his problems in BDSM and cleaning bathrooms on social media. An unexpected recipe for an unusual feel-good hit, wrapped in latex.

Paul doesn’t have it easy. He’s struggled with obesity, low self-esteem, social anxiety and loneliness for most of his life. But now he’s found a solution. He has started cleaning – for free – for dominatrixes in Montreal. Under the name Cleaning Simp Paul, he shares daily videos of himself on social media as he cleans the women’s homes and slowly becomes a healthier and happier version of himself. Literally taking it one day at a time, Paul finds a simple joy in taking something dirty and cleaning it. His followers love it. And in his own words, it has saved his life. When the cleaning is over, he acts as horse and footstool, assistant and spectator, while one of the women films herself having sex with donuts. But the most incredible thing about Denis Côté’s latest film is how human and meaningful it manages to portray Paul’s unique world.
