PLANE OF LOSERS, EPISODE 1: A LIVE DOCUMENTARY PERFORMANCE by Keith Wilson

          16:00 - 16:50 Onsdag 18. marts 2026 / 50 min

How is the transformative power of art diminished by the absurd notion that it can be won or lost? Plane of Losers is a live cinema performance about the financial, emotional, and social costs of documentary film awards campaigns.

It asks a provocative question: rather than chasing Academy votes and gold Oscar statues, what if campaign budgets were instead used to finance new films, pay living wages, or fund social justice initiatives?Blending behind-the-scenes footage, campaign data,  interviews, and live performance, the piece juxtaposes the public spectacle of the awards season with the private anxieties of filmmakers caught in the endless churn of the awards-industrial complex in a starkly uneven playing field. By upending awards as the metric of success, Plane of Losers offers a humorous and necessary course correction, proposing new models rooted in community, sustainability, and the art itself, as well as a felt reminder of the benefit of gathering our bodies together in a space to contend with ourselves, our creative work, and our imperfect industries.

This session can only be purchased as part of the full afternoon bundle.
