Adam Khalil
Adam Khalil (Sault Ste Marie Tribe of Chippewa Indians) is an artist and filmmaker whose work subverts traditional forms of image-making through humor, relation, and transgression. He is a core contributor to New Red Order and a co-founder of COUSINS Collective. With his brother Zack Khalil, he co-directed INAATE/SE/ (MoMA Doc Fortnight Closing Night, 2016), The Violence of a Civilization without Secrets (Sundance, 2018), and Aanikoobijigan [ancestor / great-grandparent / great-grandchild] (Sundance 2026, NEXT Audience Award). With Bayley Sweitzer, he co-directed Empty Metal (2018) and Nosferasta: First Bite (2022), winner of the Ammodo Tiger Short Award at IFFR. His work has been presented internationally at venues including Tate Modern, HKW, Palais de Tokyo, and the Whitney Biennial, and supported by Creative Capital and the Herb Alpert Award.
