CPH:DOX in Cisternerne / Film and choir concert underground

CPH:DOX invites you to a very special film and sound experience when we transform the iconic underground chambers of Cisternerne into a cinema on Monday March 24 and present an exclusive world premiere of Norwegian Sturla Pilskog's new documentary 'A Stranger in the World' followed by a choir concert with the chamber choir Musica. The event will take place twice on March 24: At 18.00 and at 20.00.

In ‘A Stranger in the World’, a father (the director) explores his connections to his autistic son and the sensory encounter with the world, while a composer (Magnar Åm) moves around the landscape and sounds of the dripstone caves, which he uses as inspiration to create his sensory choral work with a unique 360-degree sound around the audience.

In connection with the film, the echo-filled chambers of Cisternerne are filled with the sonorous voices of the chamber choir Musica, which performs Magnar Åm’s choral work as an extension of the film. An absolutely spectacular, unique concert where the choir blends beautifully with the acoustics of the room, creating an atmosphere that enhances both the film’s themes and its enveloping soundtrack.

The ticket also includes a free ticket to Cisternerne, giving the audience the opportunity to experience this year’s exhibition ‘Psychosphere’ by Jakob Kudsk Steensen before it closes in November. The award-winning artist explores the relationship between nature, time and technology in a total audiovisual installation. Read more about the exhibition here.

The event is supported by Frederiksberg Foundation, Frederiksberg Municipality and Foundation for Danish-Norwegian cooperation. Also a big thanks to Silent Event for supporting the project.
