Når CPH:DOX og Documentary Campus inviterer til 5 skarptslebne konferencedage, kan du dykke ned i nogle af de mest populære og inspirerende emner på tværs af film, teknologi, videnskab, kunst og medier – samt alt dét der går på tværs.

For første gang har CPH:DOX og Documentary Campus slået sig sammen for at præsentere CPH:CONFERENCE, et unik 5-dages event, der finder sted fra 20. – 24. marts under CPH:DOX i København. Her bliver dørene åbnet til et tætpakket program bestående af case studies, keynote-taler, workshops, diskussioner og international networking.

Hver af de fem dage er dedikeret til forskellige temaer og programmerne sammensat af internationalt anerkendte kuratorer. Vi løfter her sløret for de  fem overordnede temaer og håber at se dig i marts!

For at deltage i konferencen skal du have en akkreditering til CPH:DOX (1750/750 DKK for Academy akkreditering), der udover konferencen giver fri adgang til resten af CPH:DOXs film-, talk- og eventprogram. Alternativt kan man indløse billet til de enkelte dage.

Mandag 20: Art, Technology & Change – præsenteret i samarbejde med Dagbladet Information

Under temaet Art, Technology & Change stiller konferencens første dag skarpt på den stigende politiske bevidsthed og aktivisme i krydsfeltet mellem kunst, teknologi og social forandring. Mød kunstnere og tænkere i en række sessions, der undersøger, hvordan teknologi ikke blot driver, former og udvider grænserne for os selv og samfundet – men også gennem nye kommunikationsformer ændrer den måde vi opfatter, modtager og fortolker information. Dagen er kurateret af Mark Atkin samt Lars Højholt og forfølger to overordnede temaer; dels kunstens potentiale som aktivistisk redskab dels hvilken rolle grænsefladen mellem menneske og robot kommer til at spille i fremtiden.

Tirsdag 21: Science & Film

En hel dag er dedikeret til det kreative samarbejde mellem film og videnskab. Deltag i Science & Film og bliv en del af en dybt interaktiv konferencedag med førende tænkere og kreative i krydsfeltet mellem videnskab, film og kommunikation. Du forlader konferencedagen med nye værktøjer til dine egne fremtidige filmiske udforskninger i videnskabens verden samt idéer til en hel ny måde at samarbejde på tværs af sektorer. Talere inkluderer, blandt mange andre, den anerkendte danske professor i filosofi Vincent Hendricks, Nadja Oertelt, forsker, filmskaber og medstifter af virksomheden Massive, samt Sonia Epstein fra Sloan Foundation og Museum of the Moving Images i New York. Dagen er kurateret af AC Coppens (The Marketing Catalysts).

Onsdag 22: Serialized

Konferencens tredje dag retter spotlyset mod tidens nye og nok mest spændende format lige nu under titlen Serialized. Dagens program bliver kurateret af Thom Powers, som vil belyse serieformatet fra forskellige perspektiver. Hør med, når Thom taler med Emmy Award-vinderen Ezra Edelmann, instruktøren af den Oscar-nominerede serie ‘OJ: MADE IN AMERICA’. Gå i dybden sammen med filmklipperne Richard Hankin og Mary Manhardt fra hhv. HBO stor-hittet ‘The Jinx’ og Netflix-blockbusteren ‘Making a Murderer’. Og tag en tur rundt i verdenen af serielle podcasts, når vi udpeger trends, identificerer vigtige agenter samt tilbyder tips til, hvordan du selv kan starte din egen podcast med Nick Quah.

Torsdag 23: The Art of Impact

Kurateret af Sarah Mosses er The Art of Impact dedikeret til at undersøge hvordan film kan forvandle oplevelse til handling gennem en bevidst indsats for at skabe forandring. Dagen giver et indblik i arbejdet med forandringsskabende kampagner omkring dokumentarfilm gennem inspirerende case studies og hands-on workshops. Vi sparker dagen igang med en keynote fra Beadie Finzi, en pionér indenfor området og grundlægger af det verdensomspændende Good Pitch-initiativ: Du bidrager selv til en kommende kampagne, når publikum laver en impact-strategi for en film på festivalen i en live strategy session. Endelig skal man ikke gå glip af, hvordan National Geographic sikrede 60 millioner visninger af Leonardo DiCaprios film ‘Before the Flood’!

Fredag 24: Art & Film

Vi afslutter med et fokus dybt rodfæstet i CPH:DOX – krydsfeltet mellem kunst og film. Art & Film er kurateret af Jacqui Davies og undersøger, hvad er virkeligheden? I en serie af præsentationer og diskussioner omkring konceptet virkelighed og dets forhold til kunst og dokumentarfilm, bringer vi førende tænkere og kulturskabere fra forskellige discipliner til CPH:DOX, for at udvide horisonten gennem deres arbejde samt forstå konceptet ‘virkelighed’.

Vincent F. Hendricks

Danish philosopher and logician, Dr. Phil, PhD. Professor of Formal Philosophy and Director of the Center for Information and Bubble Studies, (CIBS) at the University of Copenhagen.

Awarded the Elite Research Prize by the Danish Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation, 2008.

Tabitha Jackson

Director of the Documentary Film Program (DFP) at the Sundance Institute. Award-winning Commissioning Editor, director, and producer of non-fiction work. Recent films supported by the DFP include CitizenFour, Rich Hill, Hunting Ground and The Look of Silence. Previously served as Head of Arts and Performance at Channel 4 Television, UK.

Richard Hankin

Supervising Editor of ‘The Jinx: The Life and Deaths of Robert Durst (2015)”’ Known for his work on God Loves Uganda (2013), Capturing the Friedmans (2003) and ShowBusiness: The Road to Broadway (2007).

Mary Manhardt

Picture Editor specialising in verite films. Nadja Oertelt

Scientist, media producer and documentary filmmaker. Co-founder of Massive, a science media company that aims to engage the public and scientists in new ways. Producer of the online course The Fundamentals of Neursocience for Harvard University.

Karen Palmer

Award winning multi-disciplinary immersive filmmaker and international speaker. Has created various immersive video installations and interactive experiences such as Riot and Syncself.

Sonia Shechet Epstein

Executive Editor of the Museum of the Moving Image’s online publication Science & Film. Previously Senior Program Associate at the Alfred P. Sloan Foundation, tasked with evaluating proposals for a multi-platform arts program to enhance the public understanding of science. Text preparer, The Age of Insight (Random House 2012), Dr. Eric R. Lars is a journalist and project manager at the Danish daily newspaper, Information. His expertise is in technology, focusing on the philosophical, sociological, anthropological and ethical questions that arise from ongoing technological achievements and possibilities.

Jacqui Davies / Jacqui Davies Ltd.

Jacqui is a London-based producer and curator. Working internationally with artists on projects involving film and video, she has facilitated projects for cinema, television, galleries, site-specific events, stage, and online platforms.

Sarah Mosses / Together Films

Sarah is a UK-based film strategist who helps film industry professionals craft impact distribution campaigns to increase their social impact, audience reach and revenue potential. She is an award-winning producer and has worked across several European markets as a mentor.

Thom Powers / DOC NYC

Thom Powers is the Artistic Director of DOC NYC and Stranger Than Fiction. He has also been the documentary programmer for the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) since 2006. He created the TIFF Doc Conference and curates the digital streaming platform SundanceNow Doc Club. He also hosts the podcast Pure Nonfiction and WNYC’s Documentary of the Week. He currently teaches at the School of Visual Arts in New York.

AC Coppens

AC Coppens is the founder of The Marketing Catalysts, a Berlin-based management company for innovative and creative players at the crossroads of film, music, games, design, media and tech. AC Coppens specialises in the challenges of entering new markets and is also a speaker, tutor and presenter for events in the field of marketing, tech and creative topics.
