‘Tata/Father’ wins Eurimages Co-Production Development Award at CPH:FORUM 2021

For the eighth year running CPH:FORUM and Eurimages are very proud to present the Eurimages Co-Production Development Award of €20,000 for the best pitch of this year’s CPH:FORUM.

This year’s jury, consisting of Nino Kirtadze, Eurimages Representative, Monica Hellström, producer from Final Cut for Real, and Xavier Henry-Rashid,  CEO Film Republic, singled out ‘Tata/Father’ directed by Lina Vdovîi and Radu Ciorniciuc, produced by Monica Lăzurean-Gorganas, Manifest Film, as the winner of Eurimages Co-Production Development Award 2021. 14 projects competed for the award.

On their motivation for choosing ‘Tata/Father’, the jury said:

The Eurimages Co-production Development Award of 20.000 Euros goes to a project which takes on a complex personal story with depth, trying to understand the cycle of violence and its mechanisms. Most importantly, it took on the subject with honesty and heart, and shows great potential to benefit from the award.”

The Romanian – Italian – German co-production is told from a first-person perspective of a young journalist who returns to Moldova to confront her abusive father, only to learn that he is being violently abused by his employer in Italy. Her investigation leads to the exploration of her own victimization at his hands.

The winner was announced Friday April 30 at the CPH:DOX 2021 official Award Ceremony.
