DEBATE: THE AFTERMATH OF TRANSNATIONAL ADOPTION – OPENING PANDORA'S BOX

110 min

Transnational adoption has taken place in Denmark for more than 60 years. The last 20 years’ adoptees have told their stories, organized and criticized the international adoption system, which is characterized by corruption, fraud and a lack of fundamental rights for adoptees and first families. Who can be held accountable for the harm suffered by adoptees and first families and how can we put an end to this harmful system?  Meet three adoptees who all have documented their stories and are now working actively towards ending the adoption system and promoting a critical conversation: Priyangika Samanthie (‘No Place Like Home’), Netra Sommer (‘Landet i den forkerte familie’) and Amy Rebecca Steen (‘Amy’s Will’). The conversation will be moderated by Yong Sun Gullach (Chair, Forum for Adoption Politics).

The event is presented together with Forum for Adoption Politics.
