‘Silver City Revisited’ by Wim Wenders / Germany / 1969 / 25 min
Audiowalk by The Lake / Copenhagen / 2023 / 45 min
From the late-60s Munich to Østerbro anno 2023, and from narrow-gauge films on the big screen to headphones in the living cityscape. Look forward to a completely unique experience when CPH:DOX shows one of the German filmmaker’s very first documentaries from his student days in Munich in connection with his visit to the festival as part of the ‘A Sense of Place’ programme – see more in the right side bar. ‘Silver City Revisited’ (1969) is an atmospheric, beautiful impression of a city, in which Wenders portrays the city’s recesses in ten different situations. Similarly, The Lake Radio and specifically sound artists Aoife Coleman and LM Skovhøj have thrown themselves into contributing to Wenders’ urban narrative with their own sound work created for the occasion. First, come inside Villa Kultur for a rare cinematic experience, before you let yourself float out into the city for the audiowalk. And finally, head to the Bremen Theatre later that same day, when Wim Wenders talks to producer Afsun Moshiry about sensing places and cities on film.
