Japanese Art: Miyazaki & Calligraphy Workshop
Gunhild Ravn Borggreen introduces the film, and after the screening we invite you to a calligraphy workshop with inspiration from the film's theme facilitated by CHIAKI from sumi works.
Immerse yourself in the interplay between Japanese art, design, and animation as we invite you into the beautiful setting of Designmuseum Denmark for a screening of the documentary Miyazaki – Spirit of Nature. Before the film, Gunhild Ravn Borggreen, Associate Professor at the University of Copenhagen and an expert in Japanese art and visual culture, will introduce the evening’s theme. Gunhild’s research spans from traditional art forms to modern media, and for many years, she has been bringing Japanese art and aesthetics into a Danish context. After the screening, you can enjoy a glass of sake from Designmuseum Denmark’s bar, Format.
Calligraphy-workshop:
Following the film, you have the opportunity to delve deeper into Japanese aesthetics by participating in a calligraphy workshop in the company of calligraphy artist CHIAKI from sumi works. The workshop takes place in two rounds, where you can try your hand at Japanese calligraphy inspired by the film’s theme. While waiting for your turn, you can enjoy a glass of sake from Designmuseum Denmark’s bar, Format.
