This session will bring participants closer to industry representatives, showcasing different types of gatekeepers and what they look for in projects. We will focus on connecting emerging voices to the established ecosystem and initiate a forward-thinking and inclusive action process to help up-coming talent thrive. Divided into three panels; each led by different types of industry representatives: broadcasters; distributors and sales agents; and film festival programmers.

Charlotte Gry Madsen

Documentary Commissioning Editor, SVT, Sweden

Charlotte Gry Madsen works for SVT, Sweden’s public service broadcaster, that has a wide range of programming and a strong documentary tradition. The documentary department serves several weekly broadcast slots as well as SVT Play, an online platform, with an output of more than 100 new titles a year.

 

Krishan Arora

International Content Consultant, SBS, Australia

Krishan Arora is a producer and exec, currently International Content Consultant for Australian public channel SBS. He began his TV career at the BBC, before joining Arte in Strasbourg when the channel launched in 1992, returning to BBC commissioning in 2001. He’s based in London and Copenhagen.

Lucie Kon

Commissioning Editor, BBC Storyville, United Kingdom

Lucie Kon is Commissioning Editor at Storyville, the BBC’s flagship documentary strand, showcasing feature documentaries from across the world. Previously Executive Producer on BBC’s Panorama, Lucie has extensive experience as an Executive and Series Producer and Director.

Adriana Banta

Adriana Banta oversees creative for Nonfiction features and limited series at A24. Prior to joining A24 in April 2022, Adriana was Vice President of 30WEST. Adriana has worked across multiple nonfiction titles, including Executive Producing “The Deepest Breath” and “Wildcat”; Co-Executive Produced “Maya and the Wave”; sold “FLEE”, “Last Flight Home”, “Some Kind of Heaven”, and participated in the sale of “Fyre: The Greatest Party that Never Happened” and “Tiger King”.

Kim Christiansen

Overseeing all our documentary films for the international market mainly from independent producers from the Nordic region as well as helping the producers with getting their films financed. Recent titles: The Mole, Last Men in Aleppo and more.

Cleo Veger

Cleo heads up the international sales department at Dogwoof working across all sales, presales and festivals for films and series including Navalny, Hillary, The Kingmaker, and Oscar-nominated films Minding The Gap and The Mole Agent.

Thom Powers

Documentary Programmer, TIFF; Co-Founder, DOCNYC, United States

Thom Powers has interviewed over 150 documentary makers as the host of the Pure Nonfiction podcast, now in its 8th year. He is the documentary programmer for Toronto International Film Festival; and a co-founder of DOC NYC, the largest documentary festival in the U.S.

Mads K. Mikkelsen

Head of Programme, CPH:DOX, Denmark

Mads K. Mikkelsen is Head of Programme at CPH:DOX – Copenhagen International Documentary Film Festival. He also runs various parallel screening series and cinema clubs, teaches film history at the Danish Film School, and is a frequent contributor to national and international magazines and publications about film.
