ROGER ROSS WILLIAMS is having a banner year with the release of a new TV series The 1619 Project (2023), on the Black American experience; his first fiction feature Cassandro (2023), in which Gael Garcia Bernal portrays the true story of the eponymous openly gay Lucha Libre wrestler; and a new feature documentary playing at CPH:DOX, Love to Love You, Donna Summer (2023), that’s an intimate profile of the singer, co-directed with her daughter Brooklyn Sudano. Williams will discuss how he navigated the different creative and logistic demands of these projects.
